Associate Solicitor | Head of Family Law

Sandra Wong is an Associate Solicitor specialising in private family law and leads Silverdale Solicitors' Family Law Department at the firm's Cheetham Hill office.

Born and raised in Manchester, Sandra joined Silverdale Solicitors in July 2010 as a Paralegal after achieving a First-Class Honours Degree in Law. She completed her training contract with the firm and qualified as a Solicitor in December 2012. Having built her career within the local community, Sandra has developed strong relationships with families, community organisations and professional networks across Manchester.

Prior to specialising in family law, Sandra gained valuable experience across the firm's Personal Injury, Civil Litigation and Property departments. This broad legal background provides her with a comprehensive understanding of how different areas of law can intersect and impact family-related matters.

Sandra specialises in all aspects of private family law, with particular expertise in complex family disputes and private Children Act proceedings. Her practice includes Family Law Act proceedings, divorce and financial remedy matters, including cases involving international jurisdictions, as well as private Children Act applications. She regularly represents clients at court hearings and undertakes her own advocacy in both children and divorce proceedings.

In addition, Sandra advises and represents clients in applications for private adoption and Special Guardianship Orders. She has extensive experience in cases with an international element, including matters involving the relocation of children abroad, applications for the removal of children from the jurisdiction and international family disputes.

Sandra also has significant experience in cases where family and immigration issues overlap. She works closely with colleagues in the firm's Property and Immigration departments to ensure clients receive comprehensive advice and support across all aspects of their legal matters. Sandra is professionally proficient in both Cantonese and Hakka, enabling her to support a wider range of clients within the local community.

Outside of her legal practice, Sandra is actively involved in voluntary and community initiatives. Her work includes fundraising for local and national charities, supporting community projects and participating in a multi-faith network that organises annual events across Manchester. She also serves as a Director of a Community Interest Company, reflecting her ongoing commitment to community-focused work and social impact.

Sandra is particularly passionate about developing initiatives that empower women from diverse backgrounds to achieve their goals, fulfil their potential and make a positive contribution to their communities.
